Summary of Duties:

Vehicle/Equipment Mechanics assist with the diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs of a variety of Pitt Race facility vehicles and equipment. These mechanics ensure that all vehicles and equipment are safe, presentable, and in good working order for customer and employee use by performing inspections, regular maintenance, and both basic and urgent repairs. This position will include working on engines, brakes, steering, and other mechanical systems.

Reporting Relationship: Vehicle/Equipment mechanics report to the Operations Manager.

Working Conditions: Most work will be performed in a maintenance garage environment, but mechanics may be exposed to hot, cold, and inclement weather conditions as duties require.

Primary Duties:

  • Promote the Pitt Race culture based on reputation, respect, integrity, and dependability.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Communicate with Operations Manager about repair options and provide cost estimates.
  • Assist with the inspection, maintenance, and organization of vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes.
  • Submit orders to Parts Coordinator to maintain supplies following routine maintenance tasks or to complete repairs.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and tune-ups.
  • Replace or repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Inspect repaired vehicles for proper functioning and test drive vehicles to ensure proper alignment and handling.
  • Maintain work area, tools, supplies, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Advise Parts Coordinator on the purchase, sale, or maintenance needs of vehicles and equipment.
  • Remain up to date with new automotive technologies and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and security standards.
  • Adhere to Pitt Race dress code and all safety standards for dress.
  • Properly utilize all required personal protective equipment.
Requirements:
  • Prior mechanical experience.
  • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and manual dexterity.
  • Able to walk or stand for extended periods of time and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license.
