Are you passionate about creating clear documentation for highly complex systems? We may have the Tech Writer position you've been seeking! As a Tech Writer II, you will be using your skills and expertise to work with subject matter experts, to obtain an in-depth comprehension of a variety of systems necessary to meet the documentation specifications for our programs and proposals. These cover a very wide range, from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll develop our operations/maintenance manuals, supplements, and related documentation utilizing engineering drawings, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and CAD models. You'll host recurring internal and external documentation review conferences to solicit feedback from various teams for incorporation into future revisions.

Responsibilities:
Write, edit, and maintain Air Force Technical Orders for various SNC-modified aircraft and systems
Adhere to commercial, military and/or SNC internal standards, as required
Coordinate with Graphic Designers to develop graphics/photos for inclusion in technical manuals
Support in-process reviews (IPRs) of documentation with internal and external customers
Coordinate and collaborate with any internal or external stakeholders (government and contractor) as needed or directed by the government
Prepare documentation with minimal input from subject matter experts
Work with program teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of product and documentation requirements. Verify content meets applicable standards and is appropriate for the intended audience
Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet all documentation deliverable deadlines
Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resources
Support internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training material, and process/procedure guides
Work efficiently individually as well as actively participate in integrated teams
Ensure documents are kept under change control management and properly stored within the Configuration Management (CM) database.
Must-haves:
Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience
A higher level degree may substitute for experience
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards
Understanding of desktop publishing tools, including publishing features of
Microsoft Word
Experience in other elements of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint) and Adobe
publishing tools and editing, layout, and production of technical documents which
include graphics, tables, and other embedded content
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams, detail oriented.
Expert knowledge of Abobe Acrobat
Excellent writing and editing skills, including expert-level understanding of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Good communication skills, via multiple platforms (e.g., instant messaging, email, phone, video conference, etc.)
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Preferred:
USAF C-130 avionics maintenance experience, maintenance concepts and technical order use is highly preferred
An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is preferred .
Ability to plan and participate in Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) preparation, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and technical or operations manuals
Experience preparing documentation with minimal input (written or verbal) from subject matter experts, such as design engineers and program managers, to prepare initial drafts and templates
Familiarity working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of product and documentation requirements. Verify content meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Prior experience creating and maintaining documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resources
Understanding of internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training material, process/procedure guides
Knowledge of techniques for reviewing, editing, and formatting business proposals, product management documents, RFP responses, marketing communications, and other organizational documents as requested
Experience with Adobe FrameMaker
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry or DoD as an aircraft operator or maintainer is highly preferred
Experience with SharePoint, Visio, and Teams
Experience with document control software, such as Product Data Management (PDM) or Product
Lifecycle Management (PLM)
