Job Description

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop standard costs in a variety of new product developments in a manufacturing process costing platform. Assist in quarterly budget/update preparation. Evaluate profitability of new products in collaboration with Marketing, Production Operations, Quality Control and Purchasing Departments. Apply principles of cost accounting in comparing actual cost to estimates and analyze variances. Provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Close and settle production work orders and analyze variances. Provide monthly material usage variances for co packers. Develop customer co pack fees. Analyze freight absorption rates. Prepare month end reports and analysis. Provide accounting technical support in an integrated SAP environment. Assist in testing/implementation of automation and enhancements in SAP applications. Perform other duties as requested

COST ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATION:

  • Plan, study and collect data to determine cost of business activity such as raw materials purchases, labor and overhead.
  • Review and update standard costs of all products
  • Maintain cost and accounting views of the material master for new and existing products.
  • Review vendor co pack operations and ensure that costs are accounted for properly.
  • Develop/maintain models for application of overhead to production processes.
  • Coordinate Pepsi Business Process Flow to capture proper gross margin, production variances, invoicing, and packing costs.
  • Analyze monthly production variances; summarize cause and effect, and corrective action required.
  • Design cost estimates for new products and continue reviewing changes in existing products or service costs, and recommend cost efficiencies.
  • Conduct profitability analysis on requested customers/products.
  • Perform independent specialized accounting functions of a complex nature in SAP environment for new products or services and provide technical advice in team structures.

ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATOIN:

  • Analyze broker's commission to properly reflect budget conditions.
  • Monitor automated freight to customers and deployment rates. Develop/ maintain warehousing and catch all plant rates. Work with IT to correct errors.
  • Perform freight cost centers over/under absorption analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and revised forecasts.
  • Compile cost information to be used in operating budget and forecast preparation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses and reports for senior management and auditors.
  • Prepare Vendor Co-packers outstanding freight accruals monthly.
  • Review and post production statistical units to cost centers at month-end.
  • Prepare and analyze negative returns for Marketing Department's review monthly.
  • Reconcile and analyze SHOEI Inventory monthly.
  • Analyze and reconcile SHOEI NCT usage and co-pack fees.
  • Provide sales and cost data for insurance purposes.

MISC. TASKS:

  • Develop SAP modification for improvements to existing procedures and new business structure flow.
  • Maintain Business Process Procedures for cost accounting area.
  • Accounting Technical Advisor on special projects.
  • Assist in other inter-departmental activities as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field; and three to five years of experience in cost/financial accounting.
