We have an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team with the Engineering Division

This is a temporary role not to exceed 10 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • The intern will support the hardware and cable harnesses development for multiple projects as the team prepares to return astronauts to the lunar surface in 2024.
  • The intern will assist lead engineers in the next planned tasks, which may include design.
  • Procurement, assembly, test, and documentation of flight hardware, ground support equipment, and/or test support equipment. Tasks may include:
    • developing various documents such as test plans, test procedures, assembly procedures, technical reports, design specifications, schedules.
    • tracking/procuring hardware.
    • hardware assembly.
    • hardware/software test rig development.
    • conducting tests and reporting test results.
  • Most test-related activities will be performed at the Johnson Space Center.
  • The intern will perform tasks and deliver products as assigned by their Project Manager. The intern will be part of a larger development team and will be provided oversight by a lead engineer to answer questions and to ensure the intern's success. The intern will learn the engineering development lifecycle process and will gain valuable insight into how NASA develops flight hardware.
  • Perform other duties as required

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university.
  • Completed at least 45 credit hours.
  • Minimum of 2.8 GPA.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university and pursuing an Aerospace/ Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering degree.
    BSEE or MSEE in the senior year.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
