Your Role and Responsibilities

• Kyndryl spun off from IBM in November 2021 with many of the Fortune 500 already among its clients, but a desire to find innovative ways to do more for those clients. With that in mind, we have been aggressively expanding our consulting ranks in innovative areas like cloud computing, software development, and data. This expanded consulting team will work with new and existing clients to help them achieve more.
• Consulting Directors are a key role in the consulting organization at Kyndryl. They are entrepreneurs inside the company responsible for building their team, working with sales to find opportunities, overseeing delivery, and ensuring that the team’s offerings are aligned to our clients’ demand. You will run a little data consulting company inside Kyndryl helping clients achieve their data, analytics, AI/ML, database, data warehouse, ETL, and data governance goals.
• Understanding Client Problems and Seeing Innovative Solutions: Consulting Directors in Kyndryl’s consulting organization know how to listen to clients facing real challenges getting the most from their data and the new AI/ML, database/data warehouse, and analytics technologies available today. They can take what they have learned and propose innovative solutions that Kyndryl can help deliver. Whether that’s a completely new strategy/roadmap, a new technology to try, or a new way to store and access data, a way to secure data, or a new way to organize so that data becomes more useful.
• Service Offering Development: A good Consulting Director will discover patterns of client problems and then collaborate across partners, Kyndryl service offerings, and other consulting teams to create hardened capabilities that teams can use.
• Create Understanding Across Kyndryl: Kyndryl has a large sales force who already know our clients and their needs. What they don’t know is how your practice can help their clients. You will need to constantly be educating our sales team so they are armed with your story.
• Business Development and Relationship Management: Once introduced to clients, you will develop and maintain relationship with key client stakeholders. You will negotiate terms with C-level clients, lead pursuit teams, and participate and lead the proposal development process.
• Delivery & Engagement Management: A Consulting Director’s job isn’t done when the customer is ready to buy. They own creating a budget for the project and supervising on-time and on-budget delivery; often creating the team structures, agile management practices, and project plans that will lead to success.
• Inspirational Leadership: The Applications and Data Practice is stronger because of the leadership of our Consulting Director. They coach, challenge, mentor, instruct, and develop some of the brightest data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts in the company.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• In order to fulfil all of these responsibilities, you will need to be a seasoned professional with experience in application development and in leadership. You should apply for this job if you are confident that:
• • • Work with client application teams to understand their backlog and their architecture.
    • Selecting platforms for and building low code or no code solutions.
    • Rewriting legacy applications with similar requirements.
    • Creating an API layer for a set of applications or to expose data.
    • Teaching clients about current application development best practices.
    • Interfacing with our data, SAP, Mainframe modernization, and testing teams.
    • Developing testing solutions for complex projects.
• • The consulting organization that you are leading will be focused on advising clients on all things application development. Consulting services include everything from leading workshops and consulting engagements to help clients build a strategy around data to first-of-a-kind engineering projects, PoCs, and MVPs to help the client realize value and start their journey. Areas your data team may get involved with include:

• • You have the credibility to get clients to trust your judgement on how to advance their data, analytics, and AI/ML programs

  • Your entrepreneurial spirit and perseverance will guide you through the hard work and attention to detail required to build a consulting practice in Kyndryl.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Development of business cases with return-on-investment analysis
• Deep experience working with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure and GCP) across large optimization, migration, and modernization solutions. Familiarity with their methods, ways to partner and cloud capabilities
• Understanding and articulation of the vision for modern engineering (e.g., agile, cloud native, DevOps) and operations (e.g., observability, automated response, SRE etc.) and ability to articulate a path toward a target operating model (people, process, and tools)
